Mountain View

Mountain View is immediately south of Palo Alto. It has a nice new performing arts center and an amphitheatre the volume of whose rock music concerts has caused controversy.

There is an old neighborhood around Castro street which is being redeveloped and has some charming craftsman style homes. Mardell Manor is a 50's tract area with homes in the low $600's to low $700's that typically are 1100-1400 square feet. Many streets have little through traffic. HP's marketing center is nearby. South is Rex Manor with homes in the $475 to $550K range, low for this area. West of El Camino the homes are more expensive in, for example, the area around Cuesta Park with 3-4 bedroom ranch style homes in the high $700's to mid $900's range.
